Wein aus Wien (Wine fromVienna)



Today we had a typical day at the hospital (lectures, OR, clinic), then went to a typical Viennese heurigen (wine bar) for dinner. It was great. The wine is a strong white wine, mixed half and half with sparkling water ("gespritzt"). The food was family style: big platters of fried chicken, roast pork, potato salad, cabbage salad, ramp fritters, and of course, echt (genuine) wiener schnitzel. And for dessert, a tale of two strudels: apple and topfen (sweet cheese).
