Don't bother with Snoop: What Your Stuff Says About You by Sam Gosling. It was basically a vehicle for an academic to present his research to the lay public, but there was nothing in it that wasn't common sense.

And speaking of presenting academic research to the public...I enjoyed "Superfreakonomics" even more than its predecessor.
