Old Friends

Today, I started the morning with two treats: a cup of hot chocolate at Café Tomaselli (very famous, and established in the 1700s), and a visit with my old friend Eva, who is a veterinarian in Mattsee, a town outside Salzburg. We hadn’t seen each other in many years, and it was great to catch up. As you can imagine, a lot has happened to us both, so we had plenty to talk about. Eva’s English is about exactly as good as my German, so we spoke a real gemisch (mixture). The thing I found most fascinating is that Eva now has a specialty as a fish veterinarian (who knew?). She works taking care of fish in aquaculture farms. She even operates on the fish! It was great catching up with her, and our Kaffeepause (coffee break) was over far too soon.
