Today, RT and I took a 10 hour train ride from Vienna to Berlin. As these things go, it wasn't that bad...definitely better than a comparable length flight. At least on a train, the seats are comfortable, they have good coffee, you can get up whenever you want, you don't have to worry about stowing things under your seat or keeping your tray table up, and there are no restrictions about when you can use your electronic devices. And we were happy to have our reserved seats: it was a standing room only situation for those without. I also did plenty of reading.
After we checked into our hotel, we headed out for dinner. RT is a strict vegetarian, which makes traditional German food a little challenging. So on nights when we're on our own, we've generally gone for Asian cuisine, which is a little more vegetarian-friendly. Tonight, we had Malaysian food, though I was really craving Wiener Schnitzel, rotkraut (red cabbage) and kartoffelsalat (potato salad). Luckily, I can always go to Gerda's when I get home.
