Mozart, Museums, and Monk Mountain

RT and I met up at about 10 AM this morning, and headed into the brisk (37 degrees F.) Salzburg air. Our first stop was 9 Getreidegasse, otherwise known as Mozart's birthplace. Inside the simple set of rooms is a museum about Mozart's life. Then onto Festung HohenSalzburg, Salzburg's medieval fortress. We ascended by funicular, and spent a few minutes admiring the awesome view. We took the audio tour of the grounds (I love a good audio tour!), checked out the state rooms and museum, and then headed back into town.

In the early evening, we met with our local host, Dr. Dorn, who took us for a drink at the top of the Moenchburg (Monk Mountain). There is a new modern art museum up there, with an interesting sculpture garden. Instead of taking the special elevator back down, we walked, and Dr. Dorn, who was born in Salzburg, was an excellent tour guide. For dinner, we decided to take a break from German food, and instead had some tasty vegetarian cuisine at a local Indian restaurant. Tomorrow, we have a fun-filled day planned at the Landeskrankenhaus, where I rotated back in the day....I can't wait to see it again!
